EMF guidelines

We invite you to choose the criteria that best suit your needs.

Different countries have varied guidelines for EMF exposure, reflecting differences in public health priorities, scientific interpretations, and regulatory approaches. Governments often set more relaxed limits to allow for technological and industrial growth, balancing economic benefits with health concerns. However, independent medical and scientific groups advocate for stricter exposure limits, particularly to protect vulnerable populations and reduce long-term health risks. These organizations emphasize the precautionary principle, urging caution in light of ongoing research suggesting potential health impacts. As a result, there are no universal standards—only varying guidelines that differ by country, region, and organization, often leading to confusion and debate over the true safety levels of EMF exposure.

ICNIRP

The ICNIRP guidelines are crafted to shield against the physical effects of short-term, high-intensity EMF exposure, such as muscle twitching. However, these guidelines are not suitable for assessing the biological impacts of long-term, low-intensity EMF exposure. Despite this, they remain the sole standard adopted by many countries worldwide.

Recommendations based on thermal effects.

The maximum recommended limit for radio frequency exposure is 10,000,000 μW/m²

EUROPAEM

This EMF Guideline gives an overview of the current knowledge regarding EMF-related health risks and provides recommendations for the diagnosis, treatment and accessibility measures of EHS to improve and restore individual health outcomes as well as for the development of strategies for prevention.

Recommendations based on non-thermal effects.

The maximum recommended limit for radio frequency exposure is 10,000 μW/m²

Building Biology

Today the EMF Standard of Building Biology is used as a guide for professional and independent EMF testing of homes worldwide, including Europe, the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. The Standard is also the basis for many continuing education courses and expert seminars as well as publications and books.

Recommendations based on non-thermal effects.

The maximum recommended limit for radio frequency exposure is 1,000 μW/m²

European Parliament

The potential health impacts of EMFs remain an active area of research and public discussion. It’s essential to adhere to the precautionary principle and consider updating current exposure limits; delaying action until definitive scientific and clinical evidence is available could result in substantial health and economic costs, similar to what occurred with asbestos and tobacco in the past

Recommendations based on non-thermal effects.

The maximum recommended limit for radio frequency exposure is 100 μW/m2
